Fractional CTO for technology founders.
Senior technical and commercial leadership without the hire, for the months it takes to act on what a review finds. From the former CTO and CEO of ResDiary, who still writes code.
Based in Glasgow, Scotland, working with companies across the UK and further afield, remotely or in person.
Who it suits
There is a product, some customers, maybe a small team or an agency doing the build, and nobody senior on the technical side. The questions are whether what has been built will hold up, what to fix first, who to hire, and what to tell a board or an investor. That does not need forty hours a week. It needs someone who has made those calls before.
If you are still working out what to build, you need a co-founder rather than a fractional CTO. Fractional CTO or technical co-founder? covers the difference.
What it covers
It takes one of three shapes, each scoped and priced separately.
- Fractional leadership. Senior technical and commercial leadership without the hire. Platform decisions, vendor strategy, an AI roadmap, or preparation for a raise or a sale.
- Advisory and board. Monthly bandwidth and pattern recognition for founders. Governance and a second opinion on the technology for boards and investors.
- Implementation. Technical work that turns a decision into something running in the business. Integration architecture, automation of real operating tasks, agent workflows, proofs of concept that move ideas out of slideware. The technical work is mine, not subcontracted.
How it is scoped and reviewed
The scope is set up front and reviewed on a fixed cadence, sized to what the business needs rather than a retainer that bills whether or not it earns.
How it usually starts
Usually with a platform review. Most reviews end with a recommendation and a handover. Some end with a request to stay on, and by then the review has already set out what needs doing and in what order.
If you already know what you need, skip the review and book the call.
Start with a call.
A 30-minute call to talk through where the business is, what is prompting the question, and whether fractional is the right fit. No agenda required.
